Everyone knows Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) YouTube commands the most viewers of any online video platform, but once there, how much time does the typical viewer spend on YouTube versus other video sources? ComScore data for October 2012 shows how sticky YouTube has become. The typical YouTube viewer spends almost 400 minutes (6.7 hours) per month on the service — a little over 13 minutes per day. The next nine video providers combined total just 358 minutes.
But the top 10 online video providers still have a long way to go before challenging traditional television. Viewers spend less than a half hour per day on these online video sites together — but 4 or 5 hours a day watching TV.
